Drums? Really? What about the cymbals? Are the drums?
Sorry, a little peeved as imprecise wikipedia articles.

Why do we wait until the first of a year to declare resolutions? I understand the significance of starting a new year with a new set of goals, but why couldn’t we set the same goals on, say the 1st of March? Still, though, since everyone else is doing it, I may as well “re-up” on my goals for the year. These are things that I’ve already committed to do but plan to continue to do as I progress through the New Year.
Learn Guitar
Work out regularly
Lose some weight
Continue writing
Go back to school
Play less videogames
So there. Happy?
Yeesh, get off my back

Admit it, you liked Avatar. You cheered when the planet came to life and started to tear up on the militaros and mechs. You pumped your fist when dude was riding the panther-creature. And you waited with baited breath to see if he would be transferred to his Avatar body.
You enjoyed Avatar. So why, then do you continuously say: “Oh man, Avatar was just X” or “Remember that movie about those weird blue people?” It frustrates and infuriates me when people do this. Why denigrate and insult something that doesn’t deserve to be mocked? Here’s the thing: Avatar was a good movie. It hit all of the high points of a story of its nature, it had breathtaking effects and cinematography and it brought into sharp focus what could be done with 3D when done right. Why spit on this success?
I ask myself this each time when people mock or insult something that doesn’t need it. Perhaps everyone should do the same. Maybe then many of our discussions will be more about how and why something works rather than how and why it doesn’t.
